42, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on April 10, 2016. Christine was the beloved wife of Joseph G. Handy and the very loving mother of two children of which she cherished, her loving son Brock Jared Handy and beautiful daughter Tayla Shay Handy. Born July 3, 1973 in Pawtucket, R.I., she was the daughter of Sandra (Santos) Mello of Seekonk, and the late John Daniel Mello. She also had two sisters, Jennifer Mello and Kimberly Kosh (Mello) and her husband Randy Kosh.
Christine attended the Seekonk School System, graduating from Seekonk High School, class of 1991, where she was on the swim and cheerleading teams. Christine was a pre-kindergarten teacher for 20 years. Retiring due to illness in August 2012, she had been employed at the Four Corners Early Learning Center. She loved working with children and was very dedicated. She was very dedicated and supportive to her husbands' sports teams and of course her loving children sports and other activities.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 8:30 a.m. from Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford, RI. She will be laid to rest in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling Hours will be held Friday, April 15th from 5 - 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Breast Health Center, 101 Dudley St., Providence, RI 02905, Attention: Philanthropy.
